31Jul

This month of July just flew by. I made a conscious effort to try to be present more each day, so that I didn't race through the summer months without savoring the memories. While I do think I was successful in some respects, I still look at the calendar today with disbelief. August is one day away, and that means school starts soon, and all of the busy times with school activities begin again. Getting up very early in the morning to ensure that everyone is fed and out the door before my workday begins becomes a reality very shortly. Lazy summer mornings with coffee on the deck, will soon turn into a race out the door.

With the fall season right around the corner (and then the holidays eek!), it's a good time to take a day to "reset." What does that mean?

1. Clean your office, go through the piles on your desk, organize. It will help clear your mind.

2. Prioritize your marketing efforts for the fall season. Get that social media calendar ready for the change of season and the holiday season.

3. Check in with your employees or volunteers. Perhaps set a day for a strategic planning session for 2024.

4. Plan your holiday work gathering now. Order gifts for employees and donors.

5. Breathe. Take a moment to savor the end of one season and the beginning of the next. In all our hurrying and busy work days, do we take a moment to look around and enjoy the moment? Life is much better when we live in the present!

So, goodbye to another July. Hello to August and all that it will bring with it. A new month offers a fresh start, so take it and run with it!

Best,
