We all have our summer plans made, or at least a rough outline of things we would like to do, places we want to go, and events we plan to attend. In the Midwest, these few months of fun and sun are cherished even into the fall season. Then, it is back to a potentially cold, grey winter. While we are having a great summer, it is important to try and stay motivated at work, so one other plan to make is your plan for upcoming months.  Here are five things to consider:

1. As a business owner, are there things you want to differently in the fall and winter season that you did not do last year? What efforts fell flat last year, or what really worked well? Are there things you can order now to get things in line so you are not scrambling as summer ends. Think ahead to 2024!

2. If you have employees, what could you do for an end of the year event, whether that is focused around the holidays or not. Could you reserve a venue? Hire a caterer? Order employee appreciation gifts? If all that is in line now, that takes away a big headache later.

3. As a non-profit, what can you offer volunteers and donors as an end of the year report or even appreciation gift? Can you start drafting that annual report now, so that you do not feel pressed to get it all done in December? Are there personalized thank you notes that you could start writing now, instead of mid-December?

4. If you have a storefront business, have you made a plan for a refresh after summer? Think about ways you can rearrange items, decorate for the new season, and provide a more organized environment for customers.

5. It is always important to review your marketing efforts, including a social media plan and website audit. If you don't have time, contact us! When everyone is done with summer fun, you can begin grabbing their attention for your business or organization with a new marketing look and feel!
