March is here, and every year I get a little giddy when this month rolls around, because we know what is next, spring! Longer days with sunlight, green leaves and grass, those first days of not wearing the winter "puffy" coat. It is a time that reminds us that a new beginning is near. We start to think about all the things we'd like to do when the weather is nicer, and one of them usually involves cleaning out spaces and perhaps landscaping projects outside. However, since we are still spending a lot of time indoors for now, this is the perfect time to start your spring cleaning early at work and at home.

First, take a look at your email. Is it a mess with nothing filed or haven't filed away emails in awhile so your inbox is really, really full? Take time each day to clean it out, and in no time, you'll have your email in the right files and that inbox will be much more manageable.

Second, are there stacks of paper all over your desk and/or office? Start going through your piles, and keep what you really need and file it away, and then shred and throw out the rest. Cleaning up your work space will make you feel like you can breathe, even on the busiest of days.

Third, take a weekend day for your family to go through drawers and closets and weed out what is not needed anymore. Trash anything that is not usable, and then donate the rest. Getting the kids involved is a way for them to start good habits of organizing spaces, decluttering, and helping others.

Finally, make a list of the outdoor projects you want to tackle once the weather is nice. Prioritize these, and as soon as that nice weather hits, you can can start checking off your list and have more time to enjoy your outdoor spaces.

Welcome March! Snow may still fly, but we know that it will pass soon enough, and spring is coming right up!
